How the final grade math works

Your final grade blends what you have already earned with your final exam. The calculator runs that blend in reverse:

  1. Your current grade counts for everything except the final (100 minus the final weight).
  2. Subtract that contribution from the grade you want.
  3. Divide by the final exam weight. That is the score you need.

The formula: needed = (desired − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight

Example: 85% now, aiming for 90%, final worth 30%. You would need (90 − 85 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 101.67%. Over 100% means the goal is out of reach, so you can reset your target early.

You have already secured your desired grade. Even a zero on the final keeps you at or above your target.
